TeAICR hosts a private guided tour by art historian Emily Dellheim of the exhibition dedicated to American Abstract Expressionist painter Jackson Pollock along with his artist peers including Willem de Kooning and Franz Kline.
The artists belonged to the Abstract Expressionist group of the New York School, an informal movement of avant-garde painters, poets, dancers and musician active in New York in the 1950s and 1960s.
The painters were driven by experimentation and anti-conformism, particularly evident in the action painting of Pollock - known as 'Jack the Dripper' - because of his revolutionary way of applying paint to canvas.
Through about 50 masterpieces - including the famous Number 27, Pollock's large canvas, over 3m long, made iconic by the masterly balance between the brushstrokes of black and the fusion of the clearest colors - vivid colors, harmony of shapes, subjects and abstract representations immerse observers in a magnificent artistic context: abstract expressionism.
