The American Club of Rome represents an internationally focused, non-profit organization that promotes a friendly exchange of American traditions, culture and values.
The ACR was founded as a Men’s Club in 1953 by Henry R. Luce, founder of Time magazine and an industry leader in American Journalism. As husband of Congresswoman Clare Boothe Luce, the U.S. Ambassador to Italy from 1953-56, Henry Luce felt there was a need for an organization that provided opportunities for Americans to socialize and network while living abroad. The ACR has since developed into an open society for American expats and Italian locals to form a community and share their respective cultures in a comfortable and broadening atmosphere.
In recognition our first honorary Ambassador to the club, renowned author, playwright and US Ambassador Boothe Luce, we continue the tradition of extending the role of honorary President and Vice President to the U.S. Ambassadors to Italy, the Holy See and the USUN mission.
The American Club of Rome welcomes American professionals, diplomats, entrepreneurs, ex-pats and international citizens seeking to expand their social and professional networks through cultural, educational and community-based exchange.
