The American International Club of Rome was founded in 1953 by Henry R. Luce, an industry leader in American Journalism and founder of Time magazine. Husband of U.S. Ambassador to Italy from 1953-56, the renowned author, playwright and Congresswoman Clare Boothe Luce, Henry Luce felt there was a need for an organization that provided opportunities for Americans to socialize and network.
The club has since developed into an internationally focused, non-profit organization that promotes a friendly exchange of American traditions, culture and values.
In recognition our first honorary Ambassador to the club, Ambassador Boothe Luce, we continue the tradition of extending the role of honorary President and Vice President to the U.S. Ambassadors to Italy, the Holy See and the U.S.UN mission.
The American International Club of Rome welcomes American professionals, diplomats, entrepreneurs, ex-pats and international citizens seeking to expand their social and professional networks through cultural, educational and community-based exchange.
