The Temple Jazz Orchestra (TJO), one of America’s premier university jazz ensembles, arrives at Casa del Jazz for a special evening of big band excellence. Under the direction of renowned trumpeter Terell Stafford, the orchestra performs regularly in Philadelphia and New York City and has toured internationally in Germany, the Netherlands, and Japan.
In 2026, TJO won first place at the National Collegiate Jazz Championship at Jazz at Lincoln Center for the second time, maintaining an extraordinary record of finishing among the top two in every edition of the competition. Over the years, the orchestra has shared the stage with jazz legends including Wynton Marsalis, Jon Faddis, Benny Golson, Jimmy Heath, Clark Terry, and Frank Wess.
